Happy 74th

Yes, he is most known for portrayal of Hannibal,  but for me he is  Burt Munro  from "The World's Fastest Indian"

Project Aura: Bicycle Safety Lighting System

"Riding at night can be a daunting and dangerous task; many biking commuters are faced with the issue of being obscured when riding on the streets. Visibility at night is a vital component of biker safety, hence the need for reflectors and attachable lights. However, some of these devices are not always effective especially from the side.

We created a system that requires very little rider input and maintenance, while increasing the visual footprint of bikers from all directions especially from the side. We accomplished this by expanding the surface area of light emitted through the use of RGB LEDs inside the rims of the wheels that change from red when slowing down to white when at cruising speed.

It should be noted that Project Aura is a lighting system which allows a rider to be seen, but does not replace a forward facing headlight to illuminate the roadway. By law (in Pennsylvania, the laws vary state by state) a front headlamp and rear reflector are required, use of a rear blinky is up to the rider‘s discretion.

I love the fact that she was playing a teenager a few years ago. I adore her.

Honda Super Cub with 250 motor

An amateur bike builder in Japan build a 4 cylinder 250cc bike with Super Cub frame. You can tell he was trying to save the from of Cub as much as possible but not quite aesthetically pleasing. You can see it in Action at 1:45 mark. It is equipped with bigger drum brakes but probably will not stop well.

VaVaVroom

VaVaVroom is an inter-city motorcycle courier service based out of Seattle and run by women. "For when you need to get that thing to that place NOW". Those Suzuki riding ladies are Rider Safety Course certified, insured, responsible with extensive transporting experience.
They are Suzuki fans, as you see. (2009 Suzuki SFV 650 and 2006 Suzuki SV650S )I don't know if there are enough work for them in Seattle, but I would like to see them grow. And I like women who can ride.

Happy 60th

Unlike Mel, Steve Bisley's acting has not been showcased in the US much, but his character Jim Goose from 1979 movie, "Mad Max" has been one of the most memorable biker character of all time world wide.

There are many enthusiasts and even a Japanese company who had made "Goose" replica bikes or parts to convert KZ1000 into Jim Goose bike. The company is called White house which is basically a custom bike shop. They used to sell stickers and helmets to go with the bike as well.

Steve is a well-known motorcycle enthusiast. he has been spotted in circuits here and there and freaks out Jim Goose fans.

Elena Myers

I like women who can ride and have been following career of Elena Myers, the first woman to win an AMA Pro Racing professional motorcycle road race. She did that she was still in high school (at the tender age of 16). She recently tested the Suzuki GSV-R MotoGP machine and seemed to be quite comfortable on it. She had a season of ups and downs including a broken wrist, but managed to finished in 5th overall in AMA Pro SuperSport West. I am dreaming of watching and rooting for her in WSBK or MotoGP someday.

You can follow her on twitter @elenamyers21 and pop on to her website (www.elenamyers.com) which has tons of videos, pics and such. Oh, She turned 18 a month ago. Sorry Pedobear.

From East to West on the Iron Horse

Last August, three young Norwegians, Martin Bredeli, Kristian Pettersen and Morten Espeland started their adventure. They are traveling on two sidecars (looks to be Chang Jiang 750)

from Beijing, China to Egersund, Norway.  Their goal is to meet people and ask for opinions, thoughts and relationships with the West.
You can follow them with their blog, Fra Øst til Vest på Jernhest which is full of journals and pictures.

Made in China

I don't know if the bike was actually made in China but not well-built for sure.

Charging station in Wichita for electric cars.

Electric-car owners in downtown Wichita, ks now can now charge their cars at Westar Energy’s new charging station. The company is offering this service free of charge. The Westar Energy charging station is located at its office at 100 N. Broadway.

Operating an electric car is cheaper the electrical equivalent of a gallon of gas costs 90 cents and electrical motors tend to last longer. Electric cars have plenty of detractors but Electric-car owners will typically charge their cars overnight in their garage, rather than at a public charging station similar to gas stations. “That’s one of their big appeals, the convenience of filling up at home,” said Westar executive vice president Jim Ludwig. The Nissan Leaf and Ford Transit have ranges of about 80 to 90 miles on a full charge. However, electric cars and batteries are improving all the time. One day Electric cars might be main stream.

The world's most expensive quad bike

It may looks impressive! But the world’s most expensive quad bike can’t even be driven on the road. Manufacturers Lazareth say that the Wazuma V8 is so powerful it is purely a track-only vehicle. It features a 250bhp 30L V8 Ferrari engine and BMW M3 handlebars with the "6 speed sequential gearbox controlled from the handlebars",  Brembo brake, and custom made shocks. The Wazuma V8 has a top speed of 241km/h.(over 150mph) The machine can be yours for a huge price tag of €200,000 ($265,000)

More than quarter mil for this isn't impressive to me. It sure look beautiful but I think I would get a couple neat bikes and donate the rest of the money to some charity if I had to waste this much of money.

Catalunya 2009 MotoGP Battle

The battle between Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi at Catalunya is considered as one of the best battle in MotoGP.
Rossi left Yamaha after this season and move to Ducati, which made all Italian motorcycle race enthusiasts happy, but he had the worst season of his career. No win, and only one podium.
