Elspeth Beard

1980, Elspeth Beard was a 24 years old architect student when she bought an used BMW -1974 R60/6 to be precise- and decided to ride the world. She shipped the bike to NY and started the trip, riding up North to Canada, then down to Mexico before she reached LA. From there, she shipped the Beemer to Sydney.

As an architecture student, she did not have enough funding for the complete trip so she had to work while in Australia for 7 month to build up the funding. She wrecked her bike riding Australia and spend 2 weeks in hospital before she finished the trip there.

Her bike was then shipped to Singapore to explore the South-East Asia, where her valuables got stolen. Took 6weeks to replace all the important documents, such as passport, visa for the country she was planning to visit. She wrecked her bike again hitting a tree, destroying a garden of a Thai family, who kindly nursed her for 2 weeks. Her bike was damaged, "I took the cylinder off, straightened the bent studs as best I could and packed the cylinder base with gaskets and goo to get enough compression back".

She rode the India and fell victim to both hepatitis and dysentery. While there, assassination of Mrs. Gandhi (PM of India at the time ) happened, which made her nearly impossible to get out of the country. She got fed up and forged the necessary document to get out. She rode Pakistan then Iran with a fellow BMW rider from Holland but gotten seriously sick from the hepatitis; She had to take some time off at Turkey. After that, she finished the trip through Greece to Europe and finally UK, which was a lot easier ride.

The trip took her 3 years, 48,000 miles and 53 lb of weight loss.

She became the first British woman to circumnavigate the world by motorcycle.

She still rides and helps fellow bike adventurers and has well-established architecture business. Here is Her architecture site

July 2nd 1937: Amelia Earhart disappears On this day in 1937, the famed aviator Amelia Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan were last heard from before they disappeared. They made contact whilst flying over the Pacific Ocean in an attempt to make the first equatorial round-the-world flight. Soon after they went missing, a massive search operation was launched but to no avail. Her fate remains unknown to this day.

Debbie Evans

Debbie Evans is considered one of Hollywood's top stunt women. She began riding motorcycles at the age of six and started competing in the sport of motorcycle trials at the age of nine. By 1976, she became the first woman to reach the rank of expert, successfully competing against the men. She earned a sponsorship from Yamaha and would do halftime shows at various stadium events, which included her famous headstand on the seat of a balancing motorcycle. Her stunt career began when Debbie was called to do a motorcycle jump over a 30-foot ravine for the movie Deathsport (1978) and really broke through when she tied for second overall in the 1979 CBS Stunt Competition as the only female competitor. Since then, She has done just about every type of stunt imaginable, including setting the world long and high jump records for an air ramp.""Debbie was inducted October 2003 into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame. She has been awarded for her work on Taxi in 2005, The Matrix Reloaded in 2004 Taurus World Stunt Awards in the category "Best Overall Stunt by a Stuntwoman," previously winning two Taurus awards in 2002 for driving a Honda Civic under a moving semi-truck in The Fast and the Furious." Confederate's third-generation Hellcat, the X132

"Confederate Motorcycles' third-generation Hellcat, the X132, is powered with a 132-cubic-inch, fuel-injected S&S V-twin that cranks a matching 132 horsepower. The latest example of Confederate's push to redefine American motorcycle design is a hand-built brute priced at $49,500, though the price will eventually increase to $54,450." It is a nice looking bike to have, especially if you want to satisfy your greed and show case your financial status.

Her Dad's R 75/5

"My dad’s 1972 BMW R75/5. I just wish I didn’t have to get rid of the cafe seat I bought for it! Dad’s back wouldn’t have liked it much."

Elena Myers

I like women who can ride and have been following career of Elena Myers, the first woman to win an AMA Pro Racing professional motorcycle road race. She did that she was still in high school (at the tender age of 16). She recently tested the Suzuki GSV-R MotoGP machine and seemed to be quite comfortable on it. She had a season of ups and downs including a broken wrist, but managed to finished in 5th overall in AMA Pro SuperSport West. I am dreaming of watching and rooting for her in WSBK or MotoGP someday.

You can follow her on twitter @elenamyers21 and pop on to her website (www.elenamyers.com) which has tons of videos, pics and such. Oh, She turned 18 a month ago. Sorry Pedobear.
