Voltitude fold-up pedal-assist electric bicycle

The Volitude fold-up pedal-assist electric bicycle (or pedelec) from Swiss company Volitude SA has now entered production. The body of the bike features the unique EasyFold mechanism that allows it to be folded or unfolded in just a second and has seen it dubbed the “Swiss Army Bike.” According to gizmag, the bike is powered by a 250 W electric motor with an integrated torque sensor that provides motor assistance up to an electronically-limited 25 km/h (16 mph) so that it will go with current EU regulations. The 11.6 Ah, 36 V lithium-ion battery provide a range of around 40 km (25 miles), depending on the terrain and amount of effort the rider is willing to exert.I understand that it needs to be within the EU regulation but the performance is unimpressive to me. The sad part is that this thing costs more than 250cc motorcycle likes of Kawasaki Ninja 250R. Voltitude is selling the V1 for CHF4,990 (approx. US$5,465) almost 500 bucks more than the 250 Ninja. Only 16 mph assist, Up to 25 miles, and Six hours to recharge. Not impressive at all. Those tiny wheels gonna catch a pothole and throw you away...The only thing I like about this bike is that it is all made with easy to recycle material.

Lit Motors' C-1

I love riding in general. But I admitted that sometime it is a bitch to gear up accordingly especially in Winter. Lit motors' electric bike, C-1 has fully enclosed cockpit for the rider. Well, that is not very special. The very special about this bike is that it has electronically-controlled gyroscopic stabilizing system to stay upright when stopped, or even when struck from the side in an accident.

According to the founder of Daniel Kim, the vehicle will incorporate electric hub motors in both wheels, at least one of those motors being a high-performance Remy HVH unit. The top speed should be at least 120 mph (193 km/h), with driving range for the higher-end model expected to sit at around 150 to 220 miles (241 to 354 km) per charge, depending on the exact size of the battery. Pretty respectable. However watching the video, it doesn't seem to have enough space for battery to move forward at this point; it is filled with battery that operating the gyroscopic stabilizing system. Lit Motors is hoping to get the vehicle manufactured in 2014, estimated price tag of $16,000. It is neat and I love it, but I have a feeling that I might not be able to see it operated in public. I hope I am wrong, though.
